#1: You started a business to pursue your passion, not spend hours working on marketing. Do you get fired up creating social media content, writing email campaigns, and designing marketing strategies that will convert? If not, then you should hire a marketer. And, if so, you should become a marketer! But, chances are you started a business because you are passionate about what you provide to your clients, and your product or service is so great that people pay you for it! The challenge is you want to grow with more clients. You realize the need to connect with leads and share your message to attract and convert more customers. As an entrepreneur, you are accustomed to wearing many hats—that's how you launched your business. So, you put on your marketing hat and get to work. There comes a time when it's necessary to outsource a few of those hats, or you cannot continue to grow. If your desire is for more growth and for your business to impact more clients, you have to be free to work within your superhero skills. It's essential to choose the right partners to wear a few of those hats for you and help propel you forward where their skill sets shine. The lone ranger mentality will only burn you out and limit your growth ability because eventually, you will reach a point where things plateau since you only have 24 hours in a day. #2: Marketing is a specialized skill and not something you should DIY. You may think you're saving money by doing this yourself, but the truth is opportunity costs exist. Every yes equals a no to something else. So, a yes to spending an hour working on a social media post equals an hour you could have spent with clients or generating your next big idea. Marketing changes daily. New channels are popping up and will continue to do so, but which ones should you focus on? Where are your current and potential customers, and how can you reach them? One thing I've learned about marketing is that you never fully arrive, and you must always be learning. That's why I say marketing is a specialized skill, and the best marketers are strongly investing in continuing education. Sure, you could save money if you perform your own dental procedure next time, but in the long run, did you really? A bit of an extreme example, I know, but you get the point! Truthfully, marketing takes special skills, and you will experience better results for your company if you partner with an exceptional marketer. Interested in learning how I can help?
